Time Marches On and Instagram Beckons

It's been an age since I posted anything on this blog so I thought I'd stop by (in case anyone is still reading) to say hello.  I suppose with the clocks going forward by an hour today, I am reminded that time marches on and this is my first post of 2019.  Egads!

The world of blogging is something I became familiar with when I wrote my first comment on a favorite blog many years ago.  Back then, I enjoyed doing the daily rounds of blogs and reading the interesting, enlightening, funny, and sometimes touching things other bloggers wrote about.  Bucking up the courage to begin my own blog in January 2014, I had no idea how rewarding the experience would become.  I've made many blogging friends over the past five years through the comments section of this blog, and have even had the privilege and pleasure of meeting several of them in real life.  Along with being a rewarding pastime blogging is, of course, a time consuming one.  Time, as you might already know, is a valuable commodity and over the past year or so, I've had a difficult time setting aside adequate amounts of it to dedicate to writing and photographing this blog.

So, today I'm here not to say "good bye" just yet, but to tell you all that the posts will continue, albeit at a slower than usual pace.  I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel!  Also, as I do enjoy the interaction that social media can provide, I've finally joined that merry bandwagon known as Instagram.  I know Instagram may be old news to some of you who have been posting for years, but to me it's an exciting new world waiting to be discovered.  I can no longer resist.  If you'd care to join me there, please do so.  Just search for chronicadomus and hopefully you'll find me there.

  1. Hello CD, My favorite form of writing is the essay, which so many blog posts really are. They explore some aspect of a subject from a personal point of view, and the blog format even makes it easy to add pictures and illustrations.

I don't belong to Instagram, but I understand that it is like snapshots, whereas I know that blog posts require time and effort to put together. Still, I hope that you will occasionally find that time, as your posts are consistently among the best.

    1. Hello Jim, and thank you. I agree that blogging is rather akin to writing essays, which is something I enjoy participating in as both a writer and a reader. I'm sure Instagram will prove to be quite the opposite but we'll see if the novelty of a new form of communication will hold my interest as much as blogging has over the years.

Thank you always for your support and readership. You are part of what makes this world of blogging so rich.

  2. My goodness. I was afraid those crumpets and butter curls had led you astray. I've missed you.

Have you seen 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society' on Netflix with the divine Lily James, my new movie crush? Movie and Ms James are wonderful.

    I'll find you on IG.

    1. Hello GSL, and thanks for the welcome back! I've missed blogging and interacting with my loyal readers. So glad you stopped by to say hello and to recommend The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a movie (and book apparently) that has somehow escaped me. Just viewed the trailer and yes, it looks marvelous! How can you go wrong with anything starring Matthew Goode and Penelope Wilton?

    2. Oh, do read the book, it is a lovely read and light enough to fit in between bursts of activity tending your garden!

  3. Welcome back, CD, and thanks for the update.

I very much look forward to enjoying your instagram contributions. Another blogger I follow has done exactly the same and it seems to be working very well for her. She posts on instagram regularly, and from time-to-time on her blog - when the occasion calls for it.

    All the best

    1. Hello Spud, so nice to hear from you. Glad to learn I'm not the only one spreading her wings into IG territory. Although I've not dived too much into that world yet, I imagine I'll be very happy to discover the delights of what that form of social interaction offers. Hoping it won't suck up too much of my time (rabbit hole etc.).

  4. Hello CD and glad to see spring has sprung in your garden.

I, too, shall find you on Instagram where, like my own newish blog, I'm more of a looker/reader than a poster. You can find some extraordinary accounts to follow there, from the likes of stately homes to NASA, so it's quite diverting!

I enjoy your blog enormously so am happy to hear you're not ready to wind it up completely!

    1. Hello Pipi, and thank you. So pleased to learn you made the leap to IG and have survivied it!

Yes, we've had a very wet year so far (thank goodness as California needs the rain) which has encouraged the flowering bulbs to rear their pretty heads already. The back garden, however, is a muddy mess and I'm way behind on cultivating that. Lots of work ahead of me there!

      See you on IG then!

  7. Dear CD,
Signs of spring are in the air after a brutal February here in Boston. Post when you can. It is a delight to hear from you whenever you can manage it.
    All the best,

    1. Hello Karen, and thank you. I do enjoy blogging, as you know, and hope to get back to it on a more regular basis when I can. In the meantime, It's IG for me right now. Hope you can join me there too.

PS: Glad that spring has almost arrived for you in Boston. I'm sure those snowy winters, as beautiful as they look to me here in mild California, can be rather punishing.
